Non-melanoma Skin Cancer Associated with Increased Risk of Other Cancers (09/04/2008)
Individuals who have been diagnosed with squamous cell or basal cell carcinoma have an increased risk of developing subsequent cancers other than skin cancer. These results were recently published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

It recommended that these patients receive extensive education about risks of skin cancer as well as screening measures. These results were recently presented at the 2008 annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.
